In France, When It’s Illegal

How Do We Heli Ski In France When It’s Illegal

Totally legal in many destinations around the world, in France heli skiing is against the law. While I may be a big fan of thrills on the slopes, I’m not so interested in drama off the slopes, yet I’ll be hosting our heli ski tour in France this winter with no fear of repercussions. How?

France heli skiing

Simple. We work with the only chalet operator in France to have commercial heli-landing rights. With a chalet located close to the Italian border, its heli take-off zone is strategically positioned on the French/Italian border so we can easily fly from the chalet into Italy, where heli skiing isn’t illegal. Skiers and snowboarders can then enjoy the extensive terrain straddling the border and take further heli uplifts in Italian territory.

Not reserved exclusively for experts, the operator caters to all heli ski/board abilities and offers many different types of terrain, from undulating powder fields to tree runs and couloirs. If the weather should become a problem and flying is inadvisable, alternative measures to go skiing are taken. We are running our first tour from this operator January 20-27. Seats are selling fast, so if you’d like to join, then please contact us asap.
